Gards were scheduled to have their training on the Tetra radio system 15 Sept. and sources say the Leixlip mast will go live 30 Sept.
In addition to their personal radios, the always-on Tetra system radios in the cars will more than double the exposure to gardai in their squads, acting like a tin can holding some of the radiation inside their vehicles.
